Album of the Week: Aaron Frazer - Introducing...

Aaron Frazer is the drummer of Durand Jones & The Indications, one of those bands you should immediately point to when someone says that no good soul music is being made these days. If you've listened to their eponymous debut or the stunning follow-up 'American Love Call', you might have noticed that Frazer is blessed with a gorgeous falsetto.
This falsetto takes the spotlight on 'Introducing...', Frazer's solo debut. The record was produced by Dan Auerbach from The Black Keys, but while his fingerprints are all over the massive 'Can't Leave It Alone', the influence of his bluesy rocksound is rather limited.
There's no shortage of reverence for sixties and seventies Motown and Stax, though: almost every song on 'Introducing...' exhibits pure love for soul gods like Curtis Mayfield and Marvin Gaye - 'Bad News' even sounds like something Gaye wrote but forgot to record... Quite an introduction, if you ask us...
