For this new episode of Smoke Breaks, we're proud to host Maryland-based producer eelxb... The young cultivator of rugged and raw 90's boombap sounds started off his musical journey by studying the producers behind Jay-Z's classic 'The Black Album', with a special interest for 9th Wonder's beats. This led him to start experimenting wtih sounds and samples in Fruity Loops, resulting in a couple of projects like 'Aug 15th', 'Sounds from the Lair', 'The SP Tape' and his most recent efforts 'Sunny Side Up' and 'To Be'.
His next project, a cassette tape released via Shelled Tapes, will be the latest installment in his 'The 12 Pad Theory'-experiment. While we wait for that to drop, we invite you to give eelxb's deliciously raw 'Athena'-mix - an exclusive preview to a new tape released later this week - a listen... Enjoy!
