For this week's episode of Smoke Breaks, we got in touch with L.A.-based producer Evan Gabriel, better known as earoh - short for 'Everything A Reflection of Home'. He caught our attention with a couple of excellent tapes for Hot Record Société back in 2015 ('This Is Water' and 'Bad Neighbors'), and managed to expand his repertoire with a steady stream of beattapes and EP's...
Earlier this year, Beat Cinema released his long-awaited debut full-length album 'Ambien Moon', recorded over a three week span while travelling through New Zealand. On the album, earoh further explores different sonic landscapes and experiments with juxtaposing sounds and emotions, with impressive results... He is currently working on an album for Mandatory Bounce, a DJ duo he's part of alongside Mark McGinnis, while preparing to participate in Beat Cinema's beat battle early next year...
Needless to say, we're proud and thankful to be able to present this exciting mix of his unreleased beats and edits... In earoh's own words: "This is a mix of old and new beats, some shapely and some incongruent. There are also snippets from unreleased projects. The point was to form something new from smaller parts. Some of the pieces may never come out in any official presentation, so I at least wanted to secure them a home somewhere. 'Gas Station Breakfast' embodies the spirit of being on the go, consumed with the road and out of concerns". Give it a listen below, enjoy!
