If his very own father had managed to control his absurd religious idiocy, the legendary Marvin Gaye might have turned 78 today... A perfect occasion to spin his classic 1971 'What's Going On'-LP, which contains one of my favourite Gaye-songs: 'Flyin' High (In the Friendly Sky)'. It was Pete Rock's 'Flying High Mix' of Black Star's 'Respiration' that sparked my enthusiasm, and ultimately made me want to explore the rest of Gaye's impressive body of work. If you haven't studied Gaye's genius yet, I suggest you give 'Flyin' High' a listen below - you will not be disappointed... Enjoy!
